Kia ora Walter McRamin, how nice it is to know someone half-way around the world in South France is seeking their heritage. I am from Ngatiporou also and have a knowledge of our history and whakapapa. On my mothers side I am from Te Whanau a Hinerupe (Tikitiki Branch). On my father's side I am from Te Aitanga a Mate - Whareponga. I am familiar with your (Grace) whanau heritage at Tuparoa near Ruatoria. I am also aware of your sub-tribe "Te Whanau a Ruataupare and your great warrior chief Umuariki. I work in Australia with a Maori fellow called Shaun Grace from Tuparoa, who I presume is linked to you.
Kia ora George

This website keeps me sane, I have been living in Sth France for 18 years and I am of Ngati Porou descent, although I do not know my exact genealogy I know that I am Ngati Porou and on a journey of self discovery in 1992 I made my way back to Ruatoria where I believe my grandfather was from (Grace) I visited only once as I recalled my mother talking about a beach (Tuparaw) when I was a young child. Ever since that short trip I have found myself wanting for my identity as a Maori and this site has satisfied me(for now). It is truly a magnificent resource and I just want to make you aware of how important it is to me...community notice, great! I read about the marae notices and it feels as though I am a part of the tribe...with all of my heart I thank you.
Walter McRamin'
